A Study on the Trends for Expression in Korean Contemporary Architectural Facade Design: Focusing on Large Buildings in the City Center

Various facade designs in modern architecture have expanded the limits of materials and construction methods. In this study, I explored analyzed structural, decorative, media, adaptive as representative case studies expression. This study identified following architectural trends for new methods South Korea. First, efforts to improve function spaces by integrating interior exterior spaces. Second, attempts creating decorative expressions that stimulate human senses, or expand perceptions increase aesthetic sense. Third, forming complementary relationships with city demonstrating regionality. Fourth, enhancing performance facades facades. Fifth, helping publicness, such strengthening combining between city, building, person. Changes advances will ultimately enhance fundamental aspects architecture, enriching our daily living through harmony traditional modern, buildings humans, environment.
